FROM MY LOCAL PAPER July 16, 2004 . . . POLICE SAID . . . "An 86-year-old man fought off two men in their 20's who shot at him early Thursday and tried to steal his car, police said. "The victim dropped a friend off at 6 a.m. in the 3400 block of North Hunter Street when he heard a shot fired around the corner, police said. "He got out of his car, and police said two young men approached him demanding he give them his car. The man said no and punched one of the young men in the face. "The young man then pulled out a .38-calliber semi-automatic handgun and fired a shot, police said. But the man deflected the suspect's arm and the shot hit the ground, police said. "Both suspects then fled eastbound on foot down West Stadium Drive, police said." This guy should receive a medal of valor for his bravery. Of course, the story didn't mention all of the other 86-year-olds who have been killed trying to do the same thing. Ladies, it's never too late to take that gun safety course and try to obtain a concealed weapon permit.
