A viewing of The Deer Hunter in the mid 80's led to the creation of The Moving Wall, a half-size reproduction of The [original] Wall Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Since its inception, it has traveled to many cities in the U.S., including Paso Robles a few years ago. It was recently in Lodi, CA, where at a cost of more than $10,000, local volunteers paid for its transportation and completely landscaped its location.

For better or worse, we were all married to this "war" in some way. We had relatives or friends who were there, saw it on the evening news, watched documentaries about it, protested it, stayed in college because of it, got drafted, joined the Army, Navy or Marines, became flyboys, prayed for its end, read and wrote about it . . . and some still live it.
